SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — Runners will take their mark Saturday morning in downtown Salem along Main Street near the farmer’s market for the Salem Half Marathon. From there, you’re likely to see runners navigating Main Street, through the Roanoke College campus, Taliaferro Complex, and several surrounding neighborhood streets.
During the race on Saturday, Oct. 9, several roads will be impacted.
First and foremost, drivers need to be patient. Drivers should yield to runners on the roads and listen to course marshals and police officers guiding traffic.
Most road closures will be during the morning and will impact several roads, including:
- Main Street (4th Street to College Avenue) from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Clay Street, High Street, Hawthorn Road, N Market Street, Red Lane, Academy Street, and parts of Broad Street from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
- Colorado Street (Boulevard to 4th Street) from 7:30 to 10 a.m.
- Southbound traffic on Thompson Memorial will be diverted east onto East Main Street from 7:30 to 11 a.m.
Please heed any ‘No Parking’ signs. Also know that some parking lanes will be off-limits Saturday due to the race.
