ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Saturday was far from a slow day for the Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department.

A social media post from the department on Saturday, May 1 tells the story of an injured hiker who was rescued after six hours on the North Mountain Trail.

They say the injured hiker was taken to safety but was not transported to the hospital since the injuries were not life-threatening.

That followed a report of a commercial structure fire, as well as vehicle crashes and multiple EMS calls.
