ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The rain couldn’t stop the grand opening of the first ever Futsal game in Roanoke on Saturday morning.
Preston Park hosted the game on Saturday, Dec. 18, bringing out many supporters of the repurposed game of soccer on a tennis court. The unique game originated in South America.
A couple of Roanoke Valley leaders attended the grand opening of this event.
Landon Moore, co-founder of the Star City Soccer Foundation, says this is great for the city.
“We really see this as something that will rejuvenate this park here at Preston Park and be a great asset for soccer players young and old, male and female, all different types throughout the city,” said Moore.
Moore added that this game will continue for the community to enjoy.
