UPDATE: Roanoke Police confirm two injured in downtown shooting early Sunday

UPDATE 9:15 a.m.: Police confirm a shooting took place early Sunday morning in downtown Roanoke, leaving two people injured.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, officers responded to the 100 block of Campbell Avenue SE after hearing numerous gunshots just after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 20.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a man with what appeared to be serious gunshot wounds. He was brought to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Roanoke Fire-EMS.

As officers were still on-scene, they were told about another man who had arrived by personal transport to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound.

Authorities determined that both victims were injured from the same incident.

Police say no arrests have been made in this shooting, but the investigation is still ongoing.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke Police are working a crime scene in downtown.

They currently have Campbell Avenue blocked off between Williamson Road NE and South Jefferson Street.
