ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — An injured woman was brought to the hospital after a shooting was reported in northwest Roanoke early Tuesday morning.

The Roanoke Police Department says word came in about shots fired and a person being shot in the 3000 block of Oakland Boulevard NW at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly found a woman inside a residence with what appeared to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The woman was then transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Roanoke Fire-EMS, officials say.

According to police, they found property damage on the outside of the building that appeared to be from gunshots.

The department says the preliminary investigation indicates a gun was fired from outside
the residence, hitting both the exterior of the building and the victim inside.

Police did not find any suspects at the scene and — as of Tuesday afternoon — have not made any arrests in connection with this ongoing investigation.

If you have any information about this shooting, you are asked to call the Roanoke Police Department at (540) 344-8500 or send a text starting with “RoanokePD” to 274637.
