UPDATE 10:15 P.M. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police (VSP) says a pursuit ended in a crash on I-581 South on Thursday evening.

VSP says a man and woman are now in their custody. The man was wanted out of Franklin County on several felony warrants.

The incident blocked off the Elm Avenue Exit ramp onto I-581 South for about an hour. Multiple patrol vehicles responded to the scene.

The incident remains under investigation at this time, but WFXR will keep you updated as more information becomes available.



UPDATE 8:45 P.M. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) –The Virginia Department of Transportation says the police presence on I-581 South in Roanoke County is cleared and drivers do not have to expect delays.

Several VSP vehicles are near mile marker 0. The Elm Avenue Exit ramp onto I-581 South is closed at this time. Drivers should plan ahead and seek alternative routes if traveling in this area.
