VINTON, Va. (WFXR) — A man was hospitalized Monday night after police officers found him shot at a McDonald’s along Hardy Road in Vinton.

According to the Vinton Police Department, officers responded to a report of a malicious wounding at approximately 9:39 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11 at 809 Hardy Road.

When police arrived at the scene, they say they found a man inside the McDonald’s with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. That man was then brought to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The department says the investigation indicates the shooting took place in the McDonald’s parking lot. However, the suspected vehicle — a silver sedan — drove away before officers arrived at the scene.

As of this writing, authorities say they have not found any suspects in connection with the shooting.

“Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are still actively working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting,” the Vinton Police Department said in a statement following the shooting. “This matter remains under investigation and no further information is currently available for release.”

If you have any information about Monday night’s incident, you are asked to call the department at 540-283-7034.
