Police launch homicide investigation after man found shot in northeast Roanoke Sunday morning dies

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A shooting is now being investigated as a homicide after police announced the man found shot in northeast Roanoke early Sunday morning ended up dying.

The Roanoke Police Department says word came in at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 9 about a person outside a business in the 4300 block of Williamson Road NE who had been shot.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying in a parking lot with what appeared to be a serious gunshot wound, according to officials. The man was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

On Wednesday, May 12, the department announced the man — identified as 40-year-old Alvin Kasey of Roanoke — died from his injuries.

Police say they have still not made any arrests in connection with this ongoing investigation.
