VINTON, Va. (WFXR) — Detectives with the Vinton Police Department are investigating an armed carjacking that took place on Wednesday night.

Officers say they responded to the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue in Vinton on Oct. 19 at 8:39 p.m. after receiving reports of an armed carjacking. Officers were able to locate the victim unharmed. After a preliminary investigation police found that the suspects described as two black males, one in a black hoodie and one in a yellow hoodie, displayed a firearm then proceeded to steal a 2009 Honda Accord. The suspects, who wore masks over part of their faces fled the scene before police arrived.

On Thursday Oct. 20 a day after the vehicle was stolen, Detectives say they found it abandoned in an alleyway near Raleigh Avenue in the Town of Vinton.

Detectives say no arrests have been made at this time and the incident is still under investigation. The Vinton Police Department asks anyone with information about the incident to call them at 540-983-0617.
