ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Police in Roanoke are investigating a second Saturday shooting that left a woman injured Saturday night in northwest Roanoke.
According to the Roanoke Police Department, they were notified of the shooting around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 in the 2600 block of Cove Road NW.
As officers were responding, they found a vehicle driving away from the scene, heading south on Lafayette Boulevard NW.
The car came to a stop in the roadway and the occupants exited the vehicle to talk with the police, who noted that one of the individuals who exited the car had what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
The victim, a woman, told officers that she was trying to drive herself to the hospital.
Police stayed with the victim and the vehicle until medical crews arrived to take her to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The officers who responded to the scene of the shooting found property damage from the shooting at a business, but there were no other injuries reported.
Police say that no arrests have been made and details about what led up to the shooting are limited.

This marks the second shooting victim found in northwest Roanoke in less than 24 hours, including the teenage boy found with a serious gunshot wound in the 200 block of Cherry Avenue NW early Saturday morning.
