ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Police say that they have arrested a man and charged him with two crimes relating to a shooting that took place Monday in Roanoke.

According to police, Timothy P. Meadows, 44, of Roanoke has been charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for the shooting that took place on Orange Avenue at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3.

A man with a gunshot wound was found in the 500 block of Orange Avenue NE.

Authorities say that man was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a verbal altercation with Meadows led to the shooting.

Meadows was identified as a suspect shortly after the shooting occurred, according to officials. He arrived at the Roanoke County Police Department on Tuesday, Jan. 4, where he was served and was taken into custody without incident.

The victim has not been identified.
