UPDATE 9:48 a.m. (7/9/22): Roanoke County Police have provided new information regarding a deadly vehicle crash that took place along Plantation Road Friday night.

At approximately 7:54 p.m. on Friday, July 8, the department says 55-year-old Susan Snyder was driving a 2005 Toyota Rav-4 southbound in the 5800 block of Plantation Road.

According to police, Snyder crossed the double line and hit a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox head-on. Snyder was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet was brought to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say they do not believe drugs or alcohol factored into the crash, but the weather may have played a part.

Plantation Road was closed for several hours following the crash, but it is now back open.

No charges are pending in this ongoing investigation, authorities say.
