HILLSVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Ten dogs that were facing euthanasia in Hillsville are being saved through a collaborative effort between Pilots to the Rescue and the Twin County Humane Society.
Pilots to the Rescue (PTTR) is a non-profit aviation organization dedicated to rescuing domestic and endangered animals at risk. Transportation for the dogs is scheduled by plane to Albany, NY on Saturday, March 18th where they will be placed in safe homes.
PTTR hopes to rescue over a thousand animals this year, with the help of donations. PTTR is entirely staffed by volunteers willing to assist in the transportation part of the rescue. After this mission, PTTR says they will have rescued 244 cats/dogs in 2023 alone.
