FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – If you find yourself searching for a forever friend, the Franklin County Animal Shelter might have one waiting for you.

The shelter will be holding a pet adoption event on Sunday, Aug. 22 from noon to 4 p.m. at Barkley’s Pet Market, located behind the Kroger Plaza in Rocky Mount.

At the event, the adoption fee for dogs is $20, and for cats, the fee is $10. All adoptions will receive a free bag of dog or cat food courtesy of Barkley’s Pet Market. They are also offering a 10 percent discount off collars, leashes and harnesses. Your new forever friend will also receive a free ID tag.

Dogs, cats, and kittens will be available for adoption. During the pet adoption event, the shelter will also have a raffle basket and special items for sale.

The event has been scheduled due to a need to clear the animal shelter, which is currently full.

The shelter is also looking for donations of cat litter as well as canned and dry food for kittens, cat food, dog food and treats.
