UPDATE 3:03 p.m.: Officers with the Roanoke Police Department say classes are resuming as normal. If students wish to leave or parents want to pick their students up officers say the school is allowing it.



ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke City Public Schools sent an emergency alert out to inform parents that Patrick Henry High School is on lockdown due to a potential threat.

They say school administrators are working with the Roanoke Police Department to search the school. Students are with their teachers and no one is hurt.

Roanoke City Public School’s say the police have the campus blocked off and will not let anyone pass until the lockdown is lifted. In messages they warn parents not to come to the school.
