FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The annual Operation Christmas Joy is underway in Franklin County.

The program is a joint venture between the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office as well as churches, civic organizations, businesses and individuals who are interested in helping families who are in need of some joy during the holiday season.

“This event is very near and dear to all of our hearts at the office. It is part of our community outreach mission to reach out and give back to others. Both in the community and within our organization, we collect donations, non-perishable food items and toys so we may assist families.”

Sheriff Bill Overton

Currently, the plea is out for any church, civic group, etc., so if you are interested in helping, contact Deputy H.L Nolan by clicking here.

Once the sheriff’s office has donations, another organization will select which families will be the beneficiaries of the program.
