FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — One woman was said to have been treated for injuries and another man is unharmed after a car slammed into a Franklin County nail salon, trapping them inside the building.

It happened at taiBella Salon in the 13100 block of Booker T. Washington Highway in Hardy. A car carrying two people crashed through the building into the mani/pedi area. The car ended up trapping a 98-year-old man who was getting a pedicure, as well as the manicurist.

According to salon owner Laurie Mitchell, “I actually thought somebody had wrecked out front … because it sounded like metal on metal hitting, not realizing that it was metal on the glass coming through.”

WFXR News learned that the man was able to escape by climbing through the rubble and over the car. He was not hurt.

The manicurist was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries. It’s not clear the extent of her injuries.

“I’m very lucky, Laurie’s very lucky, our clients are lucky,” said cosmetologist Nikki Robey. “God was definitely on our side today.”

The people in the car were not hurt. There’s no word on what caused the vehicle to lose control.

The building will be evaluated to determine if it needs to be condemned.
