One seriously hurt after northwest Roanoke’s second shooting in 24 hours, police say

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police say one person is seriously injured Friday afternoon following the second shooting in northwest Roanoke in less than 24 hours.

The Roanoke Police Department says word came in at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, July 2 about a person with a gunshot wound in the 900 block of Mountain Road NW.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with what appeared to be a serious gunshot wound. First responders brought the man to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

According to police, details about what led up to the shooting are limited at this time.

As of this writing, the department says officers did not find any suspects at the scene and have not made any arrests in connection with this ongoing investigation.

This news comes after authorities discovered another man with a serious gunshot wound in the 3800 block of Panorama Avenue NW around 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 1.
