ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Police say one person is dead after crashing into a tree in Roanoke County Sunday night.

According to the Roanoke County Police Department, shortly after 11 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24, a Toyota Highlander SUV was heading east on McVitty Road in Roanoke County when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

The department says the driver — who was wearing a seatbelt at the time — was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

Authorities did not share the identity of the driver who died. However, officials say that weather, drugs, and alcohol were not factors in this fatal single-vehicle crash.

As of this writing, this crash is still under investigation, according to police.
