More than 1,200 Appalachian Power customers without power in Roanoke City, County

(WFXR) — More than 1,200 Appalachian Power customers are without power Thursday afternoon because of an outage encompassing southwest Roanoke City and Roanoke County.

Of the 1,219 customers impacted by the outage as of 1:59 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, Appalachian Power says 964 are from Roanoke City and 255 are from Roanoke County.

The company has not listed a cause for the outage, but expects power to be restored by 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
