ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Police located a missing Roanoke man in a quarry on Sunday night, just one day after he was reported missing.

The Roanoke Police Department told WFXR News that the man — identified as 54-year-old James Hall of Roanoke — had left to go swimming in the quarry.

The department says Hall was reported missing at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 after he did not return home from swimming. Police searched the area around the quarry and were not able to find him.

The Virginia State Police’s Dive and Recovery Team was contacted to search the water.

On Sunday, July 25 the team discovered Hall’s body, which was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police told WFXR News they do not expect foul play.
