ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Amid National Police Week, local and regional law enforcement agencies are set to conduct a memorial service in Roanoke County Thursday afternoon honoring officers, deputies, and troopers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
According to the Western Virginia Regional Jail, the event will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Roanoke County at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 13.
Officials say those lost throughout the Commonwealth in the past two years will be honored in the memorial service, as well as regional law enforcement professionals lost since 1892.
Surviving family members of the fallen have been invited to attend the ceremony and be honored for their personal sacrifice to the community, according to the jail.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, authorities say attendance is limited and they have already reached their capacity for seating
However, public support is welcome and the community is invited to attend this event via livestream.
