ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — “May the fourth be with you,” Star Wars fans! From Yoda and Darth Vader to Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, these famous names and storylines have become embedded in our pop culture over the past 44 years.

WFXR News’ Hazelmarie Anderson took a journey to Big Lick Comics in Roanoke on Tuesday, May 4 to speak with co-owners JD Sutphin and Adam Sutphin about how people are celebrating Star Wars Day.

In fact, the brothers even faced off in a Star Wars trivia battle!

Hazelmarie also got to taste the special Star Wars treats served up by Stephanie Reschka from Dessert Bar at the comic store, such as the “Come to the Dark Side Chocolate Pie” and the “Grogu Snack Cups.”

Star Wars fans can check out an out-of-this world array of comics when Big Lick Comics opens at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, including full runs, first appearances, rare editions, and more.

The store also invites you to dress as your favorite character and join in the Star Wars Day celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. with new merchandise, back issue comics, discounts, and giveaways, as well as Star Wars themed treats courtesy of Dessert Bar.

Even if you can’t make zoom over to Roanoke to celebrate this pop culture holiday on Tuesday, you can still celebrate your love for Star Wars any day of the year by using the characters as postage stamps.

Starting Tuesday, the U.S. Postal Service will salute the beloved droids from the Star Wars galaxy. The Star Wars Droids Forever stamps were created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm, the studio that created the franchise.
