Roanoke Valley News

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police were called out to northwest Roanoke overnight after reports of shots fired in the area, marking the city’s third shooting in two days.

The Roanoke Police Department says word came in about an alarm call in the 600 block of Peters Creek Road NW around midnight on Monday, Nov. 1.

While officers were responding to the alarm call, the City of Roanoke E-911 Center notified them about several reports of shots fired in the area. When police arrived at the scene, the department says a large group of people started leaving the area, not wanting to speak with the officers.

Shortly after authorities arrived, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital reported a man arrived at the hospital via personal transport with what appeared to be serious — but not life-threatening — gunshot wounds, according to officials.

In addition, the department says officers found evidence of a shooting in the 600 block of Peters Creek Road NW, allowing them to determine the man was injured there. However, authorities did not locate any suspects at the scene.

As of this writing, police say nobody has been arrested in connection with this ongoing shooting investigation.

This news comes after officers responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of Loudoun Avenue NW at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30 that left one man with non-life-threatening injuries.

In addition, police were dispatched to a call about a shooting victim in the 500 block of 8th Street NW around 8 p.m. on Saturday, but the injured man was actually found at 4th Street and Campbell Avenue SW.

If you have any information about any of these shootings, you are asked to contact the Roanoke Police Department by calling 540-344-8500 or sending a text starting with “RoanokePD” to 274637.
