ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A man has pleaded guilty to crimes involving the death of a teen from back in 2019 in Roanoke.

According to court documents, Cinque Tarik Fayette pleaded guilty to the charge of first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

This stems from the 2019 murder of Savion Scales, a 17-year-old who was found dead in a car in southwest Roanoke with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Fayette was sentenced to 30 years in prison with 18 of those suspended in the first-degree murder charge and three years for the charge of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Other charges that Fayette was facing included possession of a firearm by a violent felon and shooting into an occupied vehicle were both dropped.

Another man charged in the case, Ozmeik Clements, plead guilty to charges against him last March.

He is currently serving 18 years in prison.
