Man hospitalized after reports of shots fired in northwest Roanoke, police say

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating after a man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound following reports of shots fired in northwest Roanoke Tuesday evening.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, police were notified of shots fired and property damage in the area of 8th Street and Loudon Avenue
NW.

When officers responded to the scene, they discovered property damage and evidence of a shooting,
but no victims or suspects.

Then, at approximately 8:20 p.m., police say they learned that a person with a gunshot wound had arrived at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital via personal transport.

Officers were sent to the hospital and spoke with the man as he was being treated for what appeared to be a non-life threatening injury.

At this time, the department says the preliminary investigation indicates this man’s injuries and the scene at 8th Street and Loudon Avenue NW are connected.

As of this writing, police say no arrests have been made in connection with this ongoing investigation.
