Man hospitalized after reports of shooting in northwest Roanoke, police say

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A man was found injured in northwest Roanoke Friday afternoon while officers were responding to a call about a shooting.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, word came in at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 6 about a person with a gunshot wound in the 1200 block of Moorman Avenue NW.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a man in the area with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. First responders brought the man to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The department says the preliminary investigation indicates the incident happened at the intersection of 12th Street and Moorman Avenue NW.

However, police did not find any suspects on scene and have not made any arrests in connection with this ongoing investigation.

Due to the victim’s lack of cooperation, officials say details about what led up to this incident are limited.
