Man found with gunshot wound in Roanoke vehicle Sunday night was missing man from Salem

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Police are investigating after a dead body belonging to a missing man from Salem was found in northwest Roanoke Sunday evening.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, officers responded to the 1400 block of Gilbert Road NW shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 20 for a report of a dead person found inside a vehicle.

When police arrived, they found the vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle belonging to a missing person recently reported out of Salem.

The department says a man’s dead body was found inside of the vehicle and transported to the Medical Examiner’s office, where the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound.

Authorities identified the victim as Trevor Carrington, the man reported missing from Salem.

No arrests have been made in this incident, but the investigation is still ongoing.
