Man found shot in southeast Roanoke Thursday afternoon, police say

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — First responders brought a man to the hospital Thursday afternoon after he was found injured from a shooting in southeast Roanoke.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, word came in about a person with a gunshot wound in the 1200 block of Pechin Avenue SE.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in the area with what appeared to be a non-life threatening injury. That man was then transported by Roanoke Fire-EMS to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Authorities say they located the suspect on scene and brought him to the police department for an interview with detectives. However, no charges have been placed as of this writing.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates this was an isolated incident between the two men, so there is no ongoing threat to the community.
