Man found injured along Williamson Road NW after reports of shooting in Roanoke, police say

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police are investigating after a man was found injured along Williamson Road early Tuesday morning following reports of a shooting in northwest Roanoke.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, at approximately 2 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, word came in about a person with a gunshot wound in the 3500 block of Williamson Road NW.

The department says responding officers found a man in the parking lot of a business in the area with what appeared to be serious injuries. He was then brought to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Authorities say the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred in the 3100 block of Williamson Road NW, but the victim “self transported” to the 3500 block of Williamson Road NW before police arrived at the scene.

Police did not find any suspects at the scene and have not made any arrests as of this writing.
