ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police in Roanoke are investigating a shooting that reportedly took place early Monday morning in the 3400 block of Bennett Drive NW.
According to police, officers responded around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 15 to the northwest Roanoke apartment and found a residence in disarray with signs of a struggle. However, nobody was found inside the apartment.
During the investigation, detectives tried to locate the residents of the apartment and found a vehicle belonging to one of the residents in a parking lot near 13th Street SE.
Police say they determined the male resident inside of the vehicle, 22-year-old DeAngelo Bonds of Roanoke, had shot and killed the female resident of the apartment.
Her identity will be released pending proper notification of family.
Bonds told officers he disposed of the body.
After an extensive search, the department says the body was found in the Roanoke River.
Bonds was arrested and is being charged with second-degree murder.
The investigation into this incident continues.
