ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A man has been arrested and charged with malicious wounding after a person was found with what police say was a serious gunshot wound in Roanoke.
The Roanoke Police Department says the shooting happened on Saturday, Feb. 11 in the 2700 block of Massachusetts Ave. NW. At approximately 6:30 p.m. police were notified of the incident and arrived at the scene to find a man with a gunshot wound outside a home. The man was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
After speaking with witnesses at the scene police were notified that the suspect involved in the shooting was inside a house nearby. Officers say they verbally engaged with the suspect who came out of the house shortly after they arrived. Police arrested 39-year-old Curtis E. Keaton, Jr. and charged him with malicious wounding.
The Roanoke Police Department says they believe the two men knew each other and had a verbal fight that led to the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing and police say details are limited at this time.
