BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A poor little pooch now has a chance at finding a loving home after he was discovered in the middle of the woods, all by himself, in Botetourt County.

According to Angels of Assisi’s Facebook post from Wednesday, April 27, a logger found the dog with nothing but a wire crate and blanket on Switzer Mountain Road.

Botetourt County Animal Control came to the dog’s rescue and brought him to Angels of Assisi, where he has already received food, water, and some quality naptime. Then, on Wednesday afternoon, he was set to undergo a veterinary exam, lab work, and diagnostics.

“Any donations to his care will be much appreciated, and in return we’ll give him a hug from everyone and tell his his days of being abandoned are over,” Angels of Assisi posted on Facebook.

As of 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, a total of 54 people have donated $1,380 to support the dog’s care.
