ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Local artist Dan McCoig captured a Roanoke landmark, as well as one of its long-time employees, in a work of art.
McCoig recently did a painting of the Texas Tavern and incorporated Danny Fralin into the piece of artwork.
Fralin has been manning the grill at Texas tavern since 1983. In his 38 years at the restaurant, he has cooked thousands of burgers.
“Everyone loves Danny. He’s a wonderful employee,” said Matt Bullington, the owner of the Texas Tavern. “Just as nice of a person you’d ever want to meet and the heart of a worker, and so we framed it up and gave it to him. Thought it would be kinda neat to take his photo next to the framed photo of him.”
Fralin took the painting of himself home. You can still see the painting — and even buy a copy — from McCoig’s Esty page.
