ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — After canceling his appearance at the February Big Lick Comic Con, LeVar Burton is set to come to the Star City for the August event.
Burton’s shooting schedule interfered with the February event and he had to cancel his appearance at the Berglund Center just days before the convention. Big Lick Entertainment spokesperson JD Sutphin said he was working with Burton’s management to reschedule.
On Wednesday, March 9, Sutphin announced on the Big Lick Comic Con Facebook page that Burton will be one of many stars that will be at the event on Aug. 6 and 7.
Burton has been well known in the entertainment business. He has been the host and executive producer for “Reading Rainbow,” Lt. Cmdr. Georgi LaForge in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” television series and feature films, and Kunta Kinte in the mini-series “ROOTS.”
Burton has won several prestigious awards including three Primetime Emmy Awards; two nominations for the Spoke Word Grammy award, winning in 1999 for his narration of “The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr;” and 27 Daytime Emmy nominations and 21 wins.
Tickets for the Big Lick Comic Con event go on sale on Friday, March 11 at 10 a.m. You can purchase tickets here and also at the Berglund Center box office. You will also be able to purchase photo ops as well.
