Last weekend of Freedom Fest to continue as planned after storms bring flooding to New Freedom Farm

Roanoke Valley News

BUCHANAN, Va. (WFXR) – Wednesday’s rain put a damper on preps for the last weekend of Freedom Fest happening at New Freedom Farm in Buchanan.

Owner and director Lois Dawn Fritz says the rain knocked down tents and canopies that they had set up for the festival which included tents used to cover all the silent auction items.

Fritz says she is lucky to have volunteers and friends that have stepped up to help so the festival can go on this weekend as planned.

“We will be prepared for Freedom Fest and it’s going to be the best one out of all the weekends we had. We’re expecting Rolling Thunder from across the country. We’re really excited.”

Rolling Thunder is a group of Veterans who ride Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. You can also learn more about the wild mustangs on the farm. Several vendors will also be on-site for the last weekend of Freedom Fest.

Proceeds from the event benefit New Freedom Farm.
