UPDATE 9:45 p.m.: Neighbors say Tuesday morning’s shooting in northwest Roanoke was the kind of wake-up call that no one wants to get.

“It was scary,” said Dave Parker, a resident in the area of the shooting. “Because it sounded like it was too close to our apartment.”

Another neighbor, Etilma Marroquin, also reacted to the shooting, saying, “I was just looking out of the window and nobody was there. I probably ran. I’m not sure.”

Parker believes that guns are too accessible, saying, “You can buy guns now anywhere in the streets… When you have that, you’re not going to be able to control it. You gotta do something with stopping the flow of guns.”

In the last several days, three people have been hurt and one has died from other acts of violence in northwest Roanoke. This includes a stabbing Thursday afternoon that injured a woman, a shooting Saturday evening that injured a man, and multiple shootings Sunday night that left a man dead and a woman injured.
