Roanoke Valley News

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — Kroger is making a huge donation touchdown this week to the Feeding Southwest Virginia’s Salem distribution center.

Representatives from Kroger Mid-Atlantic and members of the Virginia Tech football program teamed up for the annual Touchdown for Turkeys campaign. On Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m., 450 turkeys will be donated to the center at 1025 Electric Road.

It’s all part of the pledge Kroger made to donate 10 turkeys for every touchdown the Hokies made during the 2021 football season. This season, Virginia Tech finished with 35 touchdowns, totaling 350 turkeys. However, Kroger decided to go for the extra point and will be donating an extra 100 turkeys for a grand total of 450.

Feeding Southwest Virginia serves people in 26 counties and nine cities.
