Investigators say Roanoke Councilman Robert Jeffrey Jr. remotely cleared iPad seized for embezzlement investigation

Roanoke Valley News

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke City Councilman Robert Jeffrey Jr. is reportedly in more hot water as new accusations have surfaced regarding his charges of embezzlement.

The latest accusation is that Jeffrey allegedly remotely wiped his iPad clean of data after it was seized as part of the ongoing embezzlement case.

Search warrants obtained by WFXR News indicate that a specialist determined Jeffrey was the only person who was capable of clearing the data.

Police are now asking Apple to provide information from his iCloud, saying that it may have evidence related to the case.

Last month, Jeffrey was indicted on felony embezzlement charges.

The indictments follow a complaint made by the Northwest Neighborhood Environment Organization, where Jeffrey managed the property.
