UPDATE 8:20 p.m.: Backups have significantly reduced behind a tractor-trailer fire that continues to be cleaned up along I-81 South in Botetourt County.
The incident has closed the right shoulder and the exit ramp at mile marker 156, but all lanes of travel are open.
VDOT also reports no backups in the area as cleanup efforts are nearing completion.
According to the Troutville Volunteer Fire Department, when first responders arrived at the scene of the tractor-trailer fire, they found a single-box trailer with the tires on fire and the flames spreading into the cargo area.
However, the road tractor had reportedly been disconnected and was clear of the trailer.
There were no reports of injuries from this tractor-trailer fire — which crews quickly knocked down — but the truck was hauling food products, fire officials say.
UPDATE 5:40 p.m.: VDOT says one lane has reopened along I-81 South in Botetourt County after a vehicle fire previously shut down all lanes of traffic.
According to VDOT, the southbound right lane and right shoulder are still closed at mile marker 156.6.
Traffic backups are reported to be approximately three miles.
Drivers can expect significant delays in this area.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says the incident is at mile marker 156.6.
