Fire destroys home Monday morning in Boones Mill

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A Franklin County home was ruled a total loss following a structure fire in Boones Mill Monday morning.

According to the Franklin County Department of Public Safety, the fire was reported at approximately 5:41 a.m. on Monday, June 21, emanating from the 300 block of Rolling Hill Drive in Boones Mill.

When crews arrived, they found a single-story brick ranch home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Units then requested additional resources from neighboring stations.

The fire was deemed under control after approximately an hour and a half, though crews remained on scene throughout the morning extinguishing hot spots.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries.

However, fire officials say that damage to the home was estimated at $170,000, deeming the structure a total loss. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
