ROANOKE Va. (WFXR) — The old Fire Station One in Downtown Roanoke reopened as a new business for the star city. The grand opening happened at 10 a.m. Friday morning with a celebratory ribbon cutting.

Old School Partners and Txtur are turning the 115-year-old fire station into a furniture store, a bistro, and a boutique hotel.

The flagship retail gallery for Txtur officially opened Friday, and the bistro and hotel are scheduled to open in November. City officials and project managers spoke at the event to commemorate the achievement.

“Luckily the building was here to be able for us to repurpose it after these 15 years of sitting here and make it into something that the entire community can enjoy,” said Dale Wilkinson, a partner with Old School Partners and the president of the Wilkinson Group.

At the end of the ceremony, the bell that used to occupy the bell tower was rung to symbolize that the station is back open. There was also an all-day open house until 8 pm with musical entertainment, local food trucks, and more.

Yesterday Church Street was closed from Fire Station One to Jefferson Street during the events.
