BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Applications are now being accepted for the 2021-22 Recreation Incentive Fund Program through Botetourt County Parks and Recreation.
This award-winning program offers matching funds to community service groups, individuals, and businesses wishing to make recreation-related capital improvements on publicly-owned property.
This year, a total of $45,000 of matching funds will be available through the program.
“We are excited to launch this year’s grant opportunity. Partnerships made between Botetourt County and the local groups who have completed capital improvement projects using these funds have allowed for numerous enhancements to community spaces. We are excited to see what projects will come forward this year.”Mandy Adkins, Director of Botetourt County Parks and Recreation
Since the start of the program in 1998, the grant has led to more than $2 million of improvements for property in Botetourt County.
Some of the completed projects include the design and installation of the James River mile marker signage and the installation of landscaping such as trees, shrubs, and other perennial plants.
Booster clubs at area schools have also benefited from the grant funding for tarps for baseball fields, scoreboards, and other amenities to help benefit the students in the community.
The deadline to apply for grant funds is Monday, Nov. 8. The online application can be found by clicking here. A hard copy of the application can be found at the Parks and Recreation office at 16 East Main Street in Fincastle.
