SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — “Jazz in July,” one of Salem’s most popular summertime music events, is returning to the Longwood Park Amphitheater in mid-July with Grammy winner Chip McNeill, along with other talented musicians.
With this being the 20th year for concerts in the park, city officials say “Jazz in July” will kick off at 4 p.m. on July 17 with the following musical lineup:
- 4:10 p.m. James Lagueux Band – Jazz Fusion
- 5:20 p.m. Jstop Latin Soul – Salsa in The Park
- 6:50 p.m. Chip McNeill & The Chick Corea Tribute Band
- 8:30 p.m. Chupacabras! Party Band
Not only is admission to the concerts free, but jazz fans are encouraged to bring lounge chairs, blankets, and even a picnic spread to the event.
Even if you don’t bring your own basket of goodies, you’ll still have plenty of options for food and family-friendly beverages, like the Cabo Fish Taco Food Truck and Delicia’s Italian Ice. Salem Catering will also be selling beer and wine, but patrons are not allowed to bring alcohol into the venue.
Along with the parking available at Longwood Park, attendees can park at the Salem Museum and Oakey Field lots. In addition, a golf cart shuttle service will be available from the latter two sites for people with mobility issues.
Keep in mind, though, that pets are not permitted at this event.
