ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Would you like to turn back the clock this summer so you can experience the sights and sounds of prehistoric times without leaving Roanoke County? Now you can, thanks to the T-Rex Trail at Explore Park!

From now through Aug. 14, people can follow a half-mile wooded path through the Roanoke County park as they take journey through four time periods: Triassic, Jurassic, Early Cretaceous, and Late Cretaceous.

In addition to 18 animatronic dinosaurs, the trail features a dino dig-pit and photo opportunities.

WFXR News’ Hazelmarie Anderson spoke with Alex North — the recreation marketing assistant for Roanoke County Parks, Recreation, and Tourism — about what people can expect when take a trip back in time on the trail.

The T-Rex Trail is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, as well as 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
