ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — ‘GIVE Roanoke’ is a 24-hour fundraising spree, dedicated to giving back to the local nonprofits that serve the Roanoke community.

Mark your calendars– this year’s GIVE day will take place on Wednesday, April 19th. GIVE–“grow, invest, volunteer, empower”– Roanoke is hosted by the Council of Community Services.

Last year, donors from all over gave a total of $307,337 to 105 nonprofit organizations around Roanoke.

Currently, there are 104 philanthropic organizations registered that donors can choose to support. Every organization has a mission to help improve communities in Roanoke.

There are many incentives to encourage people to donate to the cause. Here are a few of the following prizes being offered:

  • Lunch Money: A random donor that gives between noon and 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday will be randomly selected, and GIVE Roanoke will donate an extra $250 to that nonprofit.
  • Night Owl: A random donor that gives between 9:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday will be randomly selected, and GIVE Roanoke will donate an extra $250 to that nonprofit.
  • Far, Far Away: The farthest organization from Roanoke that participates will have an extra $250 donated to their nonprofit
