WIRTZ, Va. (WFXR) — Homestead Creamery and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office partnered up for ‘Cones with a Cop’ on Wednesday afternoon.

At the Homestead Creamery — located at 7254 Booker T. Washington Highway in Wirtz — deputies and local residents were able to talk with one another over a discounted cone of ice cream.

The sheriff’s office says they’ve seen an outpouring of support from the community since launching its outreach program.

“We are very fortunate and blessed here in Franklin County, because the residents, the businesses, the organization, even churches have extended open arms to our agency,” said Deputy H. L. Nolen of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office plans to post future events similar to this one on their Facebook page.
