Franklin County fire department preparing for the worst as Fred’s remnants continue to approach

Roanoke Valley News

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Scruggs Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Franklin County is at the ready, waiting for the potential for more storms in relation to the remnants of Fred.

But one firefighter says they’re getting ready for more heavy rain and strong storms.

Crews say their preparation includes making sure vehicles are gassed up and ready to go and packing chainsaws to clear downed trees.

They say they had 15 trees down in the county a few days ago. For now, they’re preparing for the worst.

We’re also told more firefighters will be on standby at the station during storms overnight and into Wednesday in case the need arises.
