UPDATE 10:48 a.m.: VDOT says crews have cleared the scene of the vehicle crash in Franklin County that shut down all lanes of Route 40 Thursday morning.
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A vehicle crash in Franklin County has closed down all lanes along Route 40 and led to detours Thursday morning.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says all eastbound and westbound lanes are closed on Route 40 near Hunts Road and Route 659.
According to VDOT, traffic is being detoured on to Route 946 and then back on to Route 40.
Motorists are asked to expect delays, but VDOT has not released an estimate of the current backup.
