Roanoke Valley News

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities in Franklin County have named a woman and a man — both from Roanoke — as persons of interest in the death of a missing West Virginia man earlier this week.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call came in at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Monday, March 29 from a landlord after he found his tenant dead in the 6000 block of Bethlehem Road in Boones Mill.

The sheriff’s office identified the victim as 58-year-old William Kirk Odell, who was reported missing in West Virginia by a family member.

On Thursday, April 1, authorities announced 35-year-old Jessica Blair Hiner and 37-year-old Maurice Allen Jones were considered persons of interest in connection with Odell’s death.

Hiner and Jones — both from Roanoke — were recently incarcerated on unrelated charges and remain in custody at this time, officials say.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim’s vehicle — a 2011 White Dodge Durango — was located unoccupied in Roanoke City, on Monday.

If you have any information that associates either person of interest with this vehicle or Odell, you are asked to call Investigator Willoughby at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 483-6615.
